Correct size crate for a puppy?

I am collecting a puppy in two weeks. It’s a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever (Toller) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nova_Scotia_Duck-Tolling_Retriever
and the smallest of the retrievers.

I am going to crate train him. What sizes crate should I order?

Get a crate that will be large enough for him when he’s full grown. This way you won’t have to buy a larger crate later. Use boxes or blankets to make the crate small enough for him as a puppy. Alternatively, you can buy crates that come with dividers for this purpose.

Your puppy probably will use one corner of the crate as a toilet if the crate is too big so it is best to have a space that is just big enough for him to stand up, turn around, and lay down comfortably. The breeder should be able to make size recommendations for you.

Have fun!
