puppy training?

I’m thinking about enrolling my puppy some training classes.
what are the good places I can go to get my puppy trained? (I know petsmart…what are other options?)
Also how much does the basic training cost? How much would you willing to pay for a class?

My puppy used to be very calm and liked to cuddle. But now he is out of control. He can be sleeping on my lap one minute then running around the house as if he is being chased by an invisuable things the next minute. He doesn’t respond to my callings anymore and if i try to hold him he runs the other way. That makes me so sad. I tried to train him myself but I don’t have much time nor energy. He socializes daily and goes out to a walk 2-3 times a day. He is 3 months old shih tzu and he’s getting neutered in 2-3 months.

I have a friend with a bad experieince with Petsmart puppy training, but are prob more people with good experiences. I would look in your local phone book and call a bunch of places, visit them find out about their practices. Find out what sort of training the people have before bringing your pet there. The grooming salon I take my dog to only has people with Master’s degrees in grooming (or pursuing a Master’s). I bring this up because something like grooming you may not think to check the groomers schooling, but with pet training, you probably do.
I was considering dog training for my crazy pomeranian, and I called a bunch of places and the prices were reasonable. There is one style of training, that you take and leave your dog with the trainers/at the school for some period of time (maybe it was a month or so). This style came highly recommended to me, however I couldn’t stand to be apart from my lil dog that long. (i think it cost around $1600)

I think the most important thing is to check out different facilities, do your research, and find a place that you really feel comfortable with.

You’ve prob heard this too, but they say dogs really calm down when they get spayed/neutered. I found this to be true with my dog once she was spayed.
