Puppy doesn’t like being left alone?
I spend most of my day with my 18 week old puppy, in the kitchen (she cannot roam the rest of the house as she is not fully toilet trained yet). When i leave her alone she barks for ages and if i do not go to her she will toilet on the floor, even though she knows not to. I have tried doing what Victoria Stilwell says, go to the dog, walk away for a minute and keep doing this, increasing the time etc. but it doesnt seem to work. She likes company and cant play on her own. What shall i do?
I do leave the radio on but it doesnt make a difference
She needs to get used to it. Explain to your neighbours that there will be a spate of barking whilst she gets used to it.
Leave a radio or something on and leave her in the kitchen and go outside for 5 mins ( being in the house will make her wander why she’s being excluded) – she’ll bark and moan but she has to get used to it.
Increase the time this way – she will keep barking but you don’t want to be lumbered with a dog all the time.
A friend of mine had to have a rota with the family so someone would always be with the dog as they didnt sort out this problem.
I wish you all the best
