training a puppy to use a litter tray?

is it possible to train a puppy to use a litter tray. i have a new puppy and was wondering if this is possible. i have two indoor persian cats that can use a tray and i think dogs are just as clever, even maybe more, so is it possible and how do you do it

Yes it is. I had my 2 dogs liter trained. I got a liter for dogs at Petsmart with use with paper pelets. I got one of my dogs to consistenly use it. One was a little stubborn and was a hit and miss kind of things. I have 2 miniature schnauzers. But as my dogs got older, they started eating the pelets. So I had to get rid of it. Then I tried pee pads on it and they worked too. My dogs went there to do their business. But when there’s already a couple of pee there, they didn’t use it anymore.

I used the liter because I was going to school at the time so I was gone for a long time. I am now a stay at home mom so I don’t use the liter anymore. Although I found that if it’s raining and one of my dog doesn’t want to go out, I take her to the garage and when she sees the tray with a pee pad, she does it there.

Almost forgot your “how” question. I did it when I was paper training my puppies. So I just put the paper in the liter and they did their business there.
