Some Practical Puppy Training Tips
Puppies, as well as dogs need exercise to remain active mentally and physically. If you don’t have enough room to run around in your yard or porch – take it to the park. Have it play a few rounds of fetch, maybe jog with it.
If you want to train your adorable puppy properly, have the extra time to bond with it. If you’re a paper-pushing workaholic that is notorious for sleeping in the office, don’t even try purchasing a puppy – you’ll just be giving it a life of disappointment.
Never punish your puppy, even if it does badly during training. Hitting them in the head doesn’t help in making the process any easier than it already in – in some cases your puppy might get scared, which could drastically demoralize it into training anymore.
At their young age, puppies should be trained how to go to the bathroom. How often do they normally use the bathroom in a day? Puppies and dogs aren’t much different than us in this respect. Take your puppy out in the morning when you wake, again during the day sometime around lunchtime, again after dinner and one last time before you go to bed. Being taken out on a regular schedule like that will greatly lessen the chances of your puppy having an accident on your floor.
Puppies may give you its typical puppy dog eyes, but can be a total joy if you have the time to spend time with them and train them. But for all the joy they give, they can also cause just as much damage. Puppies are known to leave terribly damaging bites on your furniture and if not yet potty trained; leave messes on your flooring too. Remember, it comes with the territory, if you want to have a puppy to fill the void in your life with, be prepared to understand its short comings and train it to be a better dog.
