Could my puppy be depressed?

I recently got a German Shepard puppy. He is about 7-8weeks old and can be very aggressive. He is obviously still learning not to bite and he is being potty trained so he gets a bit more attention than my shih tzu who is three. I’ve had her since she was 3months old and she seems sad to me. She gets seizures and is somewhat a sick dog but she the only thing she want to do now is sleep. I have to lock her up so she can eat and drink water. I dont know of she is depressed or if there is anything that I can do to male this easier on her. I’m usually gone from 8am-9pm so my mom, sister and brother are usually here more than I am. Can someone give me advice? I want Miley to be okay. Miley is the shihtzu and Sirius is the German Shepard.

The best thing to do in this situation is to devote an allotted amount of time to Miley every day. If most of your time is devoted to Sirius then Miley feels neglected and unloved and that could be why she sleeps most of the time. I went through this with my Chihuahua when I bought my Boston terrier. The Chihuahua just wanted to hide under the pillows and sleep all day because the new puppy was stealing her “me” time from mom. You just have to dedicate time to Miley even though you have the new puppy to take care of and train. My advice would be to possibly crate the puppy while you spend time with Miley.
