How do I get my puppy to stop barking throughout the night?
I feel I have to delete the last question that I had and put up a new one because I failed to mention that she slept peacefully throughout the first two weeks I’ve had her. She just now started barking while my family and I sleep/when I’m doing homework and I can’t pay attention to her.
This is my situation:
I have a 4mo. Shih Tzu who has a play pen in the living room where she sleeps. Trouble is, she barks and wakes my whole family up. I don’t want to be a bother to a neighbor and my family, so how can I keep her quiet during the night? I would let her sleep in my room, but my room is too small to keep her play pen in (Singapore apartments are really small) and I have to have her play pen there because she has her pee pad there (please don’t lecture me on this. This is MY choice, thank you. Keep your opinions to yourself) and she’s not 100% paper trained.
Has anyone else experienced this before? What can I do to stop this?
You can try the different corrective collars. In order of least effective to most- Sonic, every time they bark the collar will emit a high pitched noise outside most humans ability to hear. Spraying- everytime they bark it will emit a small burst of a spray, theres a couple of different sprays to choose from. Then theres the static shock collar. By far the most effective in my experience. Just make sure you follow the directions. the shock is harmless and most dogs will learn very quickly not to bark. You can buy all these collars at petco.com. The brand I use is petsafe.
