Puppy Training Sarasota Fl

Potty Training a puppy.?

I just bought an 8 week old puppy 2 days ago and I’ve been implementing everything I’ve learned in books and on the internet. I live in Sarasota, FL and am really interested to find out if there is such a thing as a dog trainer for housebreaking. I just don’t feel that I have it in me (plus I work full time) to train her to use the potty. I also don’t want to come home to urine and poo on my carpet. I’ve been using the puppy pads and I do know that you have to be consistant which she’s already (thank God!) used the bathroom outside 2x. I’m also trying to crate train but she cries ALL night long. I just don’t know what to do. I would like to know if someone that can potty train exists?!

The best way to train them is with a crate.

Dogs are den animals and are really comfortable in their crates. Granted, they wine at first, but will be ok with it very quickly.

Make sure that the crate is just big enough to allow him to turn around, but no more. If there is more room than that, he will eliminate in the cage and then move away from it.

Feed him in the morning, then crate him and go to work. As soon as you come home, take him out to go potty. And since he’s still so young, you will have to take him out often.

After he does his business, give him praise. Then give him his food.

30 mins after him eating, take him out again.

ALSO, limit his water intake before bed. You will have totake him out before bed and then as soon as you wake up. It will get less frequent as he gets older and his bladder grows larger.

But you have to maintain a steady schedule or it will never work.

Don’t get frustrated if he eliminates on the carpet, this will happen. It’s not his fault, IT’S YOURS for not getting him out on time.

Don’t leave him alone in the house unattended if he’s not in his crate. They have separation anxiety at this age and will poop or pee because they’re angry at your leaving them alone. Even for a min! :)

Good luck.. I remember these days.
