puppy training no biting
11-week old beagle puppy will NOT stop biting and chewing everything!!?

Recently we got a beagle puppy, he is 11 weeks old. The first few days were fine, until recently. He is now biting and chewing everything in sight. Although we have gotten him toys reserved for this, he continues to find everything else in the house to bite and chew. Constantly we tell him “No!”, and pull him away, but this does not seem to be working. I would like answers from those of you who work with puppies (training). It is those kinds of answers I need now!!

The wonderful experience of raising a beagle. Beagles are notorious chewers and unless you have plenty of toys and nylon bones, you’re shoes and tupperware will do just as well.

When your little bundle of joy chews on something he’s not supposed to, tell him “No” firmly and then give him one of his toys. This is so he learns what he can chew on.

As for the biting, when he does bite you say “OW’ loudly to startle him. Then firmly tell him “No bite” and once again give him his toy and say “good boy” when he chews on it. You need to show him right away that you’re in charge and the dominate one. Otherwise you’ll have a disrespectful dog. Puppy classes may be a good idea if your new at raising a puppy.

Edit: Wanted to add, I have a 4 yr beagle and she’ll get in a mood to chew something of mine up or decide to rip a screen window. This is due to the fact she was my first puppy and I did a lot of things wrong by letting her get away with bad habits. So please don’t make my mistakes :)
