Puppy Training Nighttime

8 Wk puppy won’t sleep at night in crate.?

I have an 8wk Maltese/Shitzhou puppy that I have had at home for 4 days. We are crate training. She cries/whines/barks all night long and doesn’t sleep at all in the night. Then she sleeps ALL DAY in the crate no problem. Should I limit her late afternoon nap so she sleeps in the nighttime? If so, how do I do that? She just crashes and falls asleep where ever she is and then I put her in the crate. The night times are killing me. She yelps so much, I think she’s getting hoarse! Thankfully she doesn’t pee in her crate, but she did have a poop last night, even though I took her out before bed, she only peed outside, no poo. I can’t force her to poo outside can I?!
What should I do to promote better night time sleep?

If she sleeps during the day just fine in the crate then try leaving the lights on and a radio playing softly at night. Make sure she get plenty of playtime before bed too so she is tired. You may need to spend more time outside to give her a chance to poop in the evening also. I would not limit sleep for a young animal in any way.
