how much does a border collie cost?
im 15. i wanted to buy a border collie. i love dogs. and yes i know how much work BC are. i just want the border collie as a pet, but i will keep him busy and active. i know BC are used for herding and for shows. There also really smart. how much would a BC cost from a breeder to have as a pet? im not gonna breed it or show it. how much would they go for? i want a puppy. around 8 weeks. also do i have to buy them from a breeder? how else can i get one as a puppy?
p.s. i live in miami. let me know if you know any close breeders? i plan on buying one in june so i have the whole summer to play and house train it.
Where I live, they’re so common and badly-bred, you could buy one for 50 bucks.
Anyway, if you buy a BC pup from a good show breeder, even as a pet, you’ll pay top buck. If you buy from a working breeder … ahh, I doubt a good working breeder would sell to you. They prefer their dogs to go to homes where the dogs will actually be required to herd something.
Border Collies really aren’t the best “pets” … they really REALLY need a job to do. And they’re too damn smart for most owners.
