Puppy Training In Winter

puppy training in winter
What is a reasonable amount of time for training a day? Dog trainers or other dog professionals only please?

Now that spring is here, and after admittedly not being consistant over the winter with training, I would like to spend a lot more time training my puppy who will be a year old in june. What is a reasonable amount of time to spend with him each day? Should I work on one command during each session or change it up? Thank you!

Always make training fun. Keep each session short and successful. Always quit while your dog is doing well and you are happy. If you train to long he can get bored and stop working for you and you will get frustrated as well. You are always better off training 2 or 3 shorter lesson a day rather than one that is too long. For a puppy I would only train a few minutes at at a time working up to 15 minutes. Your puppy will let you know when the lesson is getting to long. If this happens adjust the lessons accordingly.
I like to ‘replay’ the old lessons, before beginning a new task. It seems to get the session off to a positive start.
