Help training a super hyper dog at the Humane Society?
Yeah, I’m volunteering at the Humane Society, but only on Saturdays for 3 hours (that’s the most we can volunteer at one time) because I can’t do it on school days or on Sundays because they’re closed n Sundays. Anyway, I’m the Pet Pal (which means I mainly focus on one dog, and help train them and stuff) of a cute, white and brown, super hyper dog named Bailey. I don’t know her breed, but she’s pretty small and she’s already in the Big Dog room, not the Puppy Room. How do I train her?
Do you have any tips to help train her faster?
I do have treats, toys, leashes, and brushes available. You see, I don’t have a pet dog, so I don’t know much about training them. Any advice is appreciated! Thanks!
P.S. All the tricks that I KNOW she can do is sit.
I’m trying to teach her just basic commands like lay down, roll over, sit, stay, shake, etc.
she needs lots of exercise if you play with her for about an hour (be sure to work her really hard) she’ll be worn out and won’t be as energetic…then keep her attention w/ treats and concentrate on one command @ a time..practice until she nails it then move on some dogs take a very long time to train and teaching dogs tricks/commands helps they’re chances of being adopted if anyone ever is interested in her you can say “look at all the things she knows she’s such a cool dog!!!
OH if she knows how to sit heres a trick that’s cool…shake
1.take a treat and get her attention and tell her to sit
2.when she sits give a treat
3.then take her paw and give her a treat but don’t give a command
4.tell her sit give treat and then reach for her paw and say “shake”
5.do this like 20 times
6.when you think she gets it just hold out your hand and say “shake”
7.if she gives you her paw give her two treats and pet her and say “good girl!!”
8.when she gets it really good show off in front of people it’s important for her to be able to do things w/ distractions plus it makes you look good!!
hope this helps!!=]
