Can I grow a patch of grass on my balcony?
I live on the 2nd floor of an apartment and I’m getting a puppy in 2 months. I want to make a 3′ X 2′ patch of grass on my balcony for the winter, so in the middle of the night if the pup has to pee we can let her right out the balcony door instead of running downstairs and probably having her pee in the hallway. I want to build this to train her to ask to go out and to help on those days where it’s so snowy that you’re stuck inside. This is not a permanent thing, just when she’s a puppy and learns that she has to go outside.
How would I go about making this?
Do I need drainage? Or can I just build a box, line it and put soil in and grass on top?

make a sandbox type thing and put topsoil then get some sodd grass. and lay it down. it should work i think
