info on goldendoodles?!?!?
right now, i am trying to learn about goldendoodles!
first, does anyone know where i can buy OR adopt a goldendoodle puppy? preferably near the philadelphia area…
second, are there any goldendoodle OWNERS that have any info, advice, or tips on raising a goldendoodle, on one that they had? where did you get one?
third, does anyone know where i can find a good place (near philly?) to possibly put the dog in obedience school? or a good way to train it? thanks :]
last, i know that a goldendoodle is a MUTT, and i am not looking for criticism on my choices to buy one. please keep your comments and answers friendly and helpful!
i would prefer not to buy from someone online, as those pups come from puppy mills a lot. i want to adopt from a shelter. or something like it
1) The link below is to a directory that requires minimal breed appropriate testing for the goldens and poodles for the breeders to be listed. I would look there for a good place to buy near where you live. I would check petfinder.com for a place to adopt near Philly.
2) I own a Golden/Poodle Mix. She is a GREAT dog. She is super friendly, active, clever and cute. She was very trainable and is just a joy. I couldn’t recommend a dog more highly. My advice is to select your breeder carefully if you do decide to buy one; meet him/her in person, meet the parents of the litter, see the facilities, see vet paper work, see the OFA certifications, read the contract, read the health guarantee. If you are not going to a shelter or rescue for a doodle, then these are the things you are paying for so see them with your own eyes. I also advise going to puppy classes. My pup really benefited from them as they laid some great foundation work. I would also recommend trying your dog in agility if you had the time to. My pup loves it.
3) You’ll have to google it. I’m in Chicago where I could tell you several great places to go, but I hear the commute from Philly to Chicago is a killer.
