Is it okay to leave a 5 month old puppy in my fenced side yard? or should i leave him inside the house?

My 5 month old goldendoodle is a sweetheart. He is house broken, has had all his shots. For the past 3 months I have been coming home to take care, during lunch time(i work 8+ hours) per day. I can’t do this for 2 days in week during to work conflict. I have a fenced yard, with shade and have put grass like carpet for him to hang put.I live in CA, so it doesn’t get too cold out there. I put some toys, treat in his kennel. Is it okay to leave him for 9 hour – 2 days a week?
I walk him in the morning and evening for 40minutes, spend time training him and he sleeps inside at night. The other 3 days, I can come home and spend at least an hour in the afternoon with him.

I would love to leave him inside the house, but he is teething and I am sure he will rampage the house.Even in the side yard, he tries to dig and eat mud. At what age can I trust him and leave him in the house? He is housebroken, so I fear keeping him inside for 9+ hours will ruin learnings. any suggestions?
thanks !

Quick easy answer for you.

Safe in a crate in the house. He stays in the crate until he is completely trustworthy in the house. Probably at least a year or so old.

Someone can steal him from your yard or he could dig, climb or eventually jump the fence.

Safe inside! =)

Edit:
Get a neighbor to let him out on the long days.
