I am looking for a purebred Australian Shepherd Puppy in Florida?
Please do not post rescues, I am interested in conformation and show. I do not want a MINI aussie because, honestly, they are an abomination to the breed. I’d be glad if it’s near Fort Lauderdale and if its a puppy no older than 3 months (for training purposes). Maybe I’ll reconsider if you have a very cute puppy (not neccesarily for show).
As others said, the ASCA is the place to go. It is a breed parent club for AKC dogs. Always buy from someone who is selling puppies from champion titled parents if you want a show puppy. If you are new to the breed, you may want to aim for a pet-quality offspring from champion titled parents to get to know the breed. Then, if you can handle the breed, go back and talk to the breeder.
I am thinking about showing Papillions down the road (like 5-10 years…) but first I am getting a good pet-quality well-bred puppy. I want to learn about the breed first-hand and also get to know the breeder and the show ring. If things don’t work out, that’s OK. I’ll still have a great furry friend and a potential to get other pet-quality furry friends.
