puppy training for idiots
I undertsand this on some levels, but other than those few i think its bs. What is your opinion?????

Some places owning Rottwieller, or Pit Bull Terriers, and/or mixes are illegal. I thinks its a bunch of bs. Just because some idiots have those breeds, and make them fight, the responisble public should not be punished for their lack of intellegence.

First hand example:
About a year ago, my neighbor in back of my had to put their 2 year old Golden Retriever to sleep (uncontrollable seizures). They of course were devistated (my mother and i cried, and my dog who played with thiers was too). Then a few months later they were offered a Rottweiler puppy, and their home owners insurance company/ spokesman said that they would be dropped if they did get the puppy. They are great, responsible people, who are incredible at training dogs, but they were not allowed to have that puppy only because of his breed. Do you think that, that was fair to them??

I know this isn’t the answer you are looking for, but the hard cold truth is ‘fair’ has nothing to do with it. An insurance company is looking at statistics, dollars paid out the risk of more money being paid out. My husband had a lab who bit the neighbor girl. He didn’t even break her skin, the neighbor girl wandered into his fence and poked at the dog’s face with a stick. It was the dog or the insurance coverage. Fortunately, the dog didn’t have to be put down, but my husband did have to give the dog away. Insurance companies cannot control how or even if each homeowner properly and humanely trains their dog, nor can they control who else is around that dog and how they may treat it. Certain breeds are higher risk based on the dollar amounts of claims related to these breeds. There have been more ‘severe, vicious attacks’ by pit bulls and rottweilers than say labs and goldens. It is not fair to group bad dog owners in with good dog owners, but the insurance company bases everything on statistics and the bottom dollar.
