Ok to walk puppies separately?

I have a 3 month old German shep lab….i got 2 weeks ago. I finally got him trained to walk on a leash. I also have a 9 month old black lab mix that i have had for 4 months. My question is okay to walk them separately? I tried walking them together several times, once i trained he little one. But its so hard and they are not heavy dogs. The little one is scared of every noise outside, which makes him stop in his tracks, and the older one loves walking and is use to a faster pace. And this is too fast for the younger. I see people walking two huge dogs together all the time and it amazes since mine are 15 and 30 pounds… and i can hardly make it half way down the street…lol Should i walk them separately for now until the little one is older or should i keep trying to walk them together?

I would absolutely walk them separately. If nothing else, you’re making sure that in the event of disaster (one got away from you), you wouldn’t have to worry about trying to hold on to the other one.

Personally I make time to work with and train each of my dogs separately. Otherwise they’re all vying for my attention and no real learning is done. When your dogs are both leash-trained well, then you might consider walking them together. But until then, I wouldn’t put the extra stress on them or yourself. Good luck!
