15 wk english bulldog puppy as gone blind.?
I have a apartment with my fiance and we have two dogs. One is a Lab huskey mix 3 1/2 and a eng. bulldog pup. The pup as become blind and my fiance and I want to keep her and raise her. Hes a mantance superviser on the property and can check on her during the day, I manage drycleaner and gone most of the day. I’m worried her being home. We have been putting her in the bathroom with her bed and our other dog to make sure shes not alone and I’m pretty confident my older dog would help her if she gets into trouble. any suggestions of how to train her we had been working with potty training before she went blind but now she cant see where to stand to tell us. plz as much info you can give will be appricated
blind dogs cope better than you’d think they will.
some things that may help her..
Use rugs of different textures around the house.. such as near doorways.. that may help her to define areas where she is.
Get different scents to put in each room, such as scented candles (not to light, as the open flame would be dangerous), or plug ins.. get a different scent for each room.. for example apple for the kitchen, lilac for the bedroom, etc.. this will help her to know which room she is in. You could even try keeping a scent near the door so she can follow the scent to the door so she can alert you.
