best book to train a doberman puppy?

what is the best book that i can follow to train my doberman . Please share a download link also

I am really not a fan of teaching a dog like a Doberman anything from a book.
It is really much more effective to find yourself a reputable obedience trainer. Training these dogs can prove difficult and only an effective obedience trainer will be able to help you.

Find your local Schutzhund club and ask for a referral to an obedience trainer in your area.

One book that was suggested to me AFTER you have your dog doing the basics is a book called Control Unleashed. This is more for recalls and off leash training.

ADD: The only way to ensure that your dog is being trained to the best of ITS ability is to have one on one training with someone that can see your dog AND you work together and make suggestions and corrections to the methods.
You will never get that with books or DVDs.

ADD2: Just to note, that an obedience trainer that is referred to you from a Schutzhund club has plenty of experience in breeds mainly being; Dobermans, GSDs, Rotties, Belgian Malinois.
I was never once instructed to scruff my dog, alpha roll, physically hurt him or anything. We trained with a prong collar for corrections and positive reinforcement with both food and verbal praise.

I’m very sorry that Chix had a bad experience with Schutzhund once but that shouldn’t be the general outlook on ALL trainers associated with Schutzhund, it’s called using your own judgement. I have had very pleasant experiences with Schutzhund trainers.

Memphis Belle also made a great point regarding the Koehler method of training.

ADD3: I didn’t say your post was with me in mind but my local Schutzhund club was the establishment that referred me to my obedience trainer who does not do any of those things – the things that you have dismissed as being part of Schutzhund and dismissed the very notion that you could go through those outlets to find an acceptable trainer for a Doberman.

I personally find that ignorance towards certain methods runs rampant here and am just trying to insert some truth into what actually goes on in these sports instead of the opinions of those who have been jaded by one experience or organization.

Are you aware of what the actual principles of Schutzhund are and what you are actually objecting to? Let me tell you what you are objected to:

Obedience-basic obedience training is the first real test in Schutzhund dog training. There are 10-11 basic obedience commands used in most programs. These include “focus and attention,” sit, down, and, front, of an object, a sense of purpose, heel placement, heel, retrieve, jumping, movement exercises, and “go”.Full accomplishment demands a mastery of all 11 points of the training.

Tracking-dogs and dog training to keep track of different objects, including drugs, bombs and animal carcasses, only for the purposes of tracking methods will be trained. using the “targeting” and “methods of an object” cues, Schutzhund obedience dog training the dog learns to recognize the specific smell of their target and then to continue until cancelled.

Protection-dogs and dog can also be trained to protect, as is the case with the police dogs, dogs and watchdogs. they are trained with specific assignments which threat both to identify a threat. as an alternative, they can be trained to a specific object or person without commands.

The essence of Schutzhund is offer a dog with a very specific set of skills they can use for a specific task quickly and efficiently. dogs in formal educational programs can complete training at a rate of 20% or less. Schutzhund dog training, however, can be just as effective as a regime of obedience for dog owners at home.

So you really object to a dog going through those motions?

Yes and the problem is that YOU won’t evolve in your thinking and I find that very sad.
Schutzhund has evolved in the last 100 years, I’m sorry you have failed to see that and that none of your future Dobermans will ever experience the fun that they do have in Schutzhund training. All that energy and focus actually being used to what they were bred for. Oh well.
I also wish you and your dogs luck in your future endeavors.
