A little adjustment to crate training my Yorkie, will this work?
I’m going to be moving to an apartment in about 3 weeks, and I’ve been trying to be crate training my puppy in one of those plastic crates for the past 2 weeks. He will NOT go in there again after being left in there for a minute, even after i follow all the steps in the books and advice. He’s finally gotten used to his playpen though, I need to indoor potty train him so I want to train him on the litter pans. I want him to start peeing on the puppy pads so then I can move them into the litter pans and then take em away. Starting from today, I’ve limited his playpen area where he can move, leaving him just enough room to eat/drink, play/sleep, and repeat the “crating method” will this work? what im really confused about is, if i take him out every hour, am i only supposed to let him go pee and put him back in or what? I know that when I let him out of his playpen he just pees EVERYWHERE.
He’s 11 weeks.
11 weeks is a little young to give up on crate training him. The key is patience. He needs to get the idea that his crate is a VERY good place to be. You said you’ve tried other books but this one will give you all the help you need:

Also, he’s a dog and not a cat. Litter boxes are not an ideal situation for most dogs.
