puppy training camps
I have a 14 month old male rottweiler. He is becoming dominant and aggressive. Will he grow out of it?

I am looking into doogie boot camp training for him but my husband seems to think he will grow out of this behaviour as he grows out of the puppy stage. I disagree. He runs at me, jumps on me, bites my arm and tries to pull me around. I have tried to discipline him but at this point, I don’t think he respects me. My husband also fancies himself like Cesar Milan and is quite pleased that the dog listens to him. I am hoping to get some good advice and insight that might help me change my husbands mind.

No, your dog WILL NOT grow out of it without proper direction fron his ALPHA leaders. And that are all 2 leggers in the house!!! Not just your husband – You too.

YOur dog is in his teenage years. He is going thru puberty and thinks he is “all that”. He either thinks you are an equal and a playmate OR beneath him. BUT definitely NOT AN ALPHA. Because of the stage he is in, if he is not properly trained he can be dangerous… not because he is bad but because he doesn’t know better and knows he can get away with stuff. Someone will end up getting hurt. The dog will end up mean, going to a shelter or worse – be put down…. and it will be the ALPHA’s fault, not the dog’s.

Rotties can be big lovers. Bring someone in to evaluate his situation. Sounds like he’s bored, maybe not enough exercise or stimulis, and definitely needs to go thru a good citizenship course. Please see he gets trained before he hurts someone and you should be involved in the training also.

It does no good that the dog listens to only one person – his world has more than one person and ALL 2 leggers should be above the dog. ALPHA. Both you AND the dog will be happier.
