Potty Training New Puppy?

I just got a 11 week old Mini Schnauzer/Lhasa Apso mix boy puppy.

It’s been just a few days and he’s pretty good with going outside. When I take him outside, he knows immediately to go do his business.
Although he does have a few accidents in the house, but it’s only been a few days since we started potty training him.

I wanted to know if anyone knows how long it usually takes for a puppy to become fully potty trained?

Also, my friend suggested to me that if we hang a bell from the doorknob and make the puppy ring the bell before we go out, it’ll train the puppy to ring the bell whenever he needs to go out. Does anyone know if this is a good idea and if it works?

If not, is there another way to know if he needs to go out and pee? I watch him and if he seems like he’s sniffing around for a good spot, I take him out. But sometimes he just sniffs around for no reason. Is there another way to tell?

Bell is good. Don’t pick up your dog when you take him out, let him walk so he learns the door to go to when he has to go potty….Puppies sniff a lot!!! You just have to watch him, and you learn him sign…usually they smell a spot longer, if they don’t have to pee!
