I’m having a severe craving..?
for Curried Kangaroo. Even though I think Bark Busters is the biggest scam since Cameroon puppies… Would dog training be a good business in Australia???
ADD: I’ll have to keep my eyes open for that New Zealand show! I was just brainstorming today. I reserved a flight there about 20 years ago…but wound up in Mexico instead. What the hell…if I can go and make some money, I think I could live down under for a while.
By the way…what the hell is it that they are “Down Under”?
ADD: DJL, you gotta talk to one of those guys……Talk about confused!
ADD: That’s it…I gotta have a pig dog!
I prefer a nice roo rump roast cooked in a camp oven in an open fire. Yum yum.
As far as starting a dog training business anywhere – the proof is in the pudding – you are only as good as your results so, unless you try you will never know.
Edit: Just watched Greekman’s video and my thoughts are – just another “hero”. I heard alot of talking but didn’t see alot to back up his brags of how good his dogs are. In Australia if a pig dog isn’t any good there are 1 of 2 things which usually happen to it – either the pigs sort it out permanently or the pig hunter will take it out the back and shoot it. I don’t know what sort of pigs those soft little dogs were after but in Australia any pig dog which hunts without wearing protection doesn’t last too long.
Greekman, why do you feel the need to be so offensive and insult trainers in Australia? We only have your word for how good you are as a trainer.
Also, Dutchman – sorry but I wrongly assumed you must reside in Australia. The odds of you being giving a work visa for the purpose of training dogs would fall somewhere between buckleys and none. Dog training does not exactly fall into the skills shortage requirements for a work visa.
As far as what being down under means – I guess you just have to be an Aussie and living here to fully comprehend the amazing uniqueness of this ancient country, as well as the lifestyle opportunities here.
Edit: Greekman: I didn’t say you were talking crap, just pointing out that we only have your word for your abilities. If that was a joke you were making that Australian trainers “leave a lot to be desired” then, yes you Americans definitely have a very different sense of humour as I fail to see the humour there at all. I am also quietly confident that if the same were said about American trainers then your initial reaction may well be the same.
I don’t feel the need to accept your challenge as I have nothing to prove personally. I was just pointing out that behind the anonymity of Y!A anyone could promote themselves in any way they see fit.
I have found much of what I have read in your posts to be insightful and I agree with alot of what I have read. At times I have felt that some of your methods appear to be somewhat outdated but then I guess, as you say, you have been around for a long time. I do believe in each to their own and if it works for you then go for it. I also don’t believe that others should be condemned for using other training methods if the outcomes are producing the required results.
As they say, put 2 dog trainers in a room and the only thing they’ll agree upon is that they don’t agree with the other’s training methods.
Have a nice day.
