Puppy Training Alpha Roll

puppy training alpha roll
Is Alpha Rolling my puppy a good idea?

We got a free training DVD when we bought our puppy from a local Petland.
The DVD says that mama-dogs and siblings teach puppies bite inhibition.
But since she’s with us now, we have to.
So whenever she bites us/grooming tools/anything we don’t want her to we’re suppoused to give a loud growl or bark.
If it doesn’t work, we’re suppoused to flip her on her back and gently but firmly hold her till she stops wiggling. If she bites while doing so, we’re suppoused to bark or growl loudly and ‘Good Girl’ her when she stops wiggling and submits.
…Is this a good idea? Does it achieve results? Or will it only make her more aggressive?
Oh! By the way:
My puppy will be 3 months old on the 17th. She’s a Pomeranian.
Thanks everyone.
I knew something was wrong with that method. :/
It seemed barbaric and unkind.
Positive reinforcement it is.

And Alpha rolling will achieve what??
It’ll teach your puppy that you are strange, unpredictable & a bit frightening.
Sorry, but the idea of alpha rolling a Pomeranian is ridiculous.
You teach a pup to behave by consistency and positive reinforcement – ignoring her when she’s “bad” and praising her to the skies when she’s “good”
When she bites, withdraw your hand (or foot!) from her & ignore her completely, don’t even look at her. That’s what a sibling would do if play got too rough. If she still comes back for more, put her in another room or her crate for a few minutes time-out until she calms down. Yelping as if she’d hurt you may work, although some pups just get over excited by it.
Poms can be quite stubborn & strong willed so you need to be quite clear from day 1 that when you tell her to do something, she has to do it.
Good Luck
