Why use a prong collar?

Why do so many pit owners use a chain or prong collar for their dog, rather than a regular nylon or leather?

If your dog is well trained and in tune to you, shouldn’t he naturally respect your commands and not actually need to be choked when enforcing his submission?

I’ve wondered this for a while as I have an Amstaff puppy now, and I don’t really have any intent on making him wear a big chain around his neck, but if there is any good reason, I would be open to hearing about it.

It is used to correct powerful dogs. If a scrawny man is walking, lets say a rot, then the dog sees a cat to chase, the prong collar helps him to control his dog. If it were just a regular collar, the dog would drag him or break away.

The use of a prong collar is NOT for vicious dogs or for additional “harmony” between pet and owner but for assistance for the “scrawny” man.
