What are good reasons to own a flexi leash (retractable) – because I can’t find any?
It’s my biggest dog owner pet peeve…are there really people out there that have control of their dogs this way? I run (with my dog) and every time I run around the lakes the ‘flexi’ people let their dog roam across the road – paying no attention to them and then the dog get’s in trouble for some reason (being in a place they should not be) and the owner scoles the dog! It happens all the time…use a leather leash when walking by other people and make sure your dog does not get in other dog’s faces. The flexi has no place in the city…maybe in the country a flexi leash would work – but then again you don’t really need a leash in the country. So why have this leash when there is no control of the dog?
i do not like them they do not look or feel safe, i prefer to train my dogs to come back and walk at my side and use a proper lead, i few times i have walked around a corner to be tripped by one of these flexi leads as the owner is too busy talking to take any notice of what their dog is doing, i think they are only liked by people who are too lazy to train their dog, i live in the country and there is nothing like getting to a big safe field and letting your dog run and have fun, flexi leashes can’t replace that joy, ban them and get back to proper dog walking. best of luck honey.
