Invisible Fence vs. Tie Outs?
Okay….Since the invisible fence idea is out the window what do you guys think about using a tie out until I can get him trained? Again, this will only be used during play time/potty time. I just don’t want to have to keep him on a leash during this time. On walks…fine. Just not during play time.
I looked online and I have noticed that the tie outs by “Prestige” did not receive good reviews. Has anybody every used the “Four Paws Roam-About Heavy Duty Tie-Out Stake” or the “Titan Tie Out Cable for Very Large or Strong Dogs”? (My dog is not “very large” but he is strong.)
Thanks again!

I went to the hardware store and got about 20 feet of plastic coated wire and had 2 hoops on the end. The man at the hardware store put the crimpers on ( to connect the ends) and then I had 2 six foot tall T-Posts that I had used prior to stake out my dog. I looped the plastic coated wire over the 2 T Posts and then clipped the 20 foot chain on to the plastic coated wire. It worked fine and this way the plastic keeps the wire from rusting and the dog can still be safely contained.
JUST MAKE SURE THAT THERE ARE NO OBJECTS THAT CAN GET IN THE WAY OF THE CHAIN AND MAKE SURE THE DOG HAS PLENTY OF WATER AND FOOD. YOU MIGHT TRY PUTTING A WATER BUCKET IN AN OLD TIRE. SOUNDS AND LOOKS UGLY, BUT IT KEEPS THE DOG FROM KNOCKING OVER THE WATER.
Good luck with your dog. This will keep the dog safe and restrain it when it wants to go after someone or another dog.
P.S. I used this for an 80 pound male German Shepherd.
