Need help with a out of control Boxer puppy?

My husband and I adopted a boxer from the shelter. He’s about a year old we think. We’ve had him for about 4 months now and since he really hadn’t had any type of training and is still jumping, nipping, pulling the leash out of our hands when on walks and digging out of the yard and running off. Since I’m pregnant now,and even before I was,we knew he needed some type of training so we tried the Petsmart classes. We’ve been taking him for about 2 months now but he still doesn’t seem to be responding at all. He still does everything like before and if we try to correct him,he completely ignores us and goes back to whatever it is he was doing and sometimes he doesn’t even stop to look our way at all. He dug out of the yard Friday evening and just came back this afternoon(Sunday).

What can we do to go along with the classes or is there anything else we can do?

lol well the good news is your dog is defiantly a Boxer!! Im sorry I found your question funny but its got Boxer written all over it :) I have a 2 year old boxer and have been though & still going though everything you have mentioned. Boxers are tricky to work with because they are so set in there ways and full of personally and energy. No person or classes can change that its just who they are. I am also pregnant (35 weeks) and with just the dog alone my hands are FULL. The best thing you can do is drain all that energy because they have LOTS & LOTS of it even if you have a large fenced yard that’s still not good enough I would suggest maybe a fenced track or baseball field that he can just take off and runn like crazy Boxers MUST have that in there daily life I take my boxer boy out to a 3 acre field and let him run & run about 4-5 times a day and even with that hes still a crazy. For the pulling of the leash I would suggest trying a harness and when you walk him wrap the leash around your hand so he MUST walk properly at your side at YOUR pace the harness has done wonders for our walks. My boxer is obsessed with pupperonie treats I have been able to help break allot of bad habits with rewards of a pupperoni and also tough him tons of tricks theres no right or set way to teach or train your boxer you just got to find what works best for him you you both GOOD LUCK
