My doberman male puppy has not learned down on it own but with a treat it gets into the position when I bring treat down
I bet you’re using the treat as a lure then giving it to him as the reward? This is most likely creating your issue. Instead of giving the lure as the reward, have another treat in your other hand enclosed in your fist, and once he does it for the lure, take the lure away and reward with the other treat. This teaches your dog that just because you don’t have a lure doesn’t mean he’s not going to get rewarded for that behavior.
Also, it usually takes your dog 20 days to fully learn a behavior to where they know it fully and can do it as a habit without a treat. So until then use treats almost all the time then wean him off.
